Benjamin Shein was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. After graduating from The Episcopal Academy in Merion, Pennsylvania, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Pennsylvania (1981). He attended law school and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1984 from The University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida.

Bethann P. Schaffzin graduated from the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989, and from Villanova University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1992. She completed a clerkship with the Honorable Sandra Mazer Moss upon graduation, focusing on litigations involving various toxic products (such as asbestos, DES, breast implants, and lead paint), medical malpractice, and professional liability. She also served as a law clerk during the summer of 1990.

Since 1993, Bethann has concentrated primarily on representing victims of asbestos exposure. As well she has represented others injured by defective products and medical malpractice. She is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum for obtaining favorable settlements, verdicts and awards.
